Japanese Consultants To Help Indian Architects With Bullet Train Project

To develop the 12 bullet train stations, consultants from Japan will be assisting architects from India in an integrated effort. The decision was taken in a meeting that took place between Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, Urban Development and Municipal Commissioners from Gujarat. The inputs from Japanese on developing connectivity via metro and bus to the bullet train stations will be vital, The Hans India has reported.
A ‘transit-oriented development plan’ for all the stations is going to be in place. This plan would entail the provision of creating space for residences, business and leisure within walking distance to the point of public transport. It is said that the terminal building will have eateries, space for parking, shopping malls, services from metro and buses. The 508-km stretch will be covered in just about two hours, with the trains touching a speed of 350 km per hour.
These plans will ensure that the surrounding areas get a boost for economic activities, which can create revenue, jobs and other facilities that leads to growth and development. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 110,000 crore with the Japanese providing a loan of Rs 88,000 crore at an interest rate of 0.1 per cent.
The bullet train services between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is expected to be inaugurated by August 2022.
