J&K Administration Revokes PSA Detention Imposed On 28 Individuals Lodged In Jails Across The Nation

The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) administration has revoked the imposition of the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) detention on 28 people who had been detained since 5 August last year when the Parliament had decided to de-operationalise the contentious Article 370, reports Indian Express.
Those against whom the PSA has been revoked were lodged in different jails both inside and outside the Union Territory (UT) of J&K. These included the Central Jail in Srinagar, District Jail in Ambedkar Nagar, Central Jail in Agra and Central Jail in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh (UP).
Of those who have been released include seven from Srinagar, five from Pulwama, six from Kupwara, one from Kulgam, four from Budgam and five from Anantnag Districts.
The J&K administration had previously revoked the PSA imposition against two former chief ministers (CMs) Farooq and Omar Abdullah in March. Meanwhile, another former CM Mehbooba Mufti continues to remain under PSA detention.
It should be noted that on the bygone 14 April alone the UT's administration had revoked detention of 36 locals and another set of 41 individuals detained in different parts of the country.
