J&K: Indian Army Conducts Helicopter-Borne Exercise To Practice Inserting Task Force Behind Enemy Lines

The Indian Army carried out a helicopter-borne exercise in the higher ‘reaches’ of the Kashmir valley on Tuesday (7 December) to practice inserting a task force behind the enemy lines in an intense air defence and electronic warfare-operating environment.
As a part of the exercise, the task force, comprising of infantry soldiers, marine commandos and the Special Forces, were airdropped in a snow-clad region at an altitude of over 9,000 feet.
“The exercise included transport and armed helicopters of the Army and IAF, including the latest Apache attack-choppers. Different aspects of electronic warfare were also validated in the exercise,” an officer was quoted in a report by the Times of India (TOI).
The officer added that the capability of the 15 ‘Chinar’ corps and other units of the Army to conduct successful operations in high-altitude areas was displayed through this exercise.
In November, the Indian Army along with the Indian Air Force (IAF) had also performed a major ‘airborne insertion and combat’ drill along the frontier in eastern Ladakh to desist China from committing any misadventure.
