Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a positive development, the security forces in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) have eliminated three terrorists in an overnight encounter that broke out in the Shopian district, reports Hindustan Times.
The security forces have launched a search operation in Shopian's Hadipora area based on specific information about the presence of the terrorists in the region. During the search operation, the forces were fired upon by the terrorists, following which the retaliation ensued and the encounter broke out.
The forces had also made the efforts to make a newly recruited terrorist surrender. His parents also made appeals. However, as per the police, other terrorists did not allow him to surrender.
The elimination of three terrorists comes as a big shot in the arm for the forces, given this comes merely days after forces had killed down seven terrorists in separate operations in Shopian and Pulwama districts. The ones killed included Imtiaz Ahmad Shah, the chief of terror outfit Ansar Ghazwatul Hind.
