J&K: Two JeM Associates Providing Shelter, Logistical Support To Terrorists Arrested In Pulwama

The crackdown on Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir continues as two associates of the outfit have been arrested by the police in Pulwama, PTI reports. The two individuals have been recognized as Bilal Ahmad Chopan and Mursaleen Bashir Shaikh. The duo hail from Wagad Tral and Chatlam Pampore respectively and they were captured from the Awantipora area of the district.
Chopan and Shaikh are said to be offering shelter and logistical support to terrorists in Pampore and Tral areas of Pulwama. They also assisted in the transportation of arms and ammunitions to other terror operatives in the region and hence cases have been filed against them by the police.
Further investigations against these individuals are progressing as Jaish-e-Mohammed’s plans to disrupt the local body elections in Jammu and Kashmir came into light recently. The police eliminated four terrorists belonging to the outfit and large chunks of destructive weapons were recovered from them. It is believed that they had planned to launch a major attack on the 12th anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
In a rather unusual move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally tweeted about the incident as he said, “Neutralising of 4 terrorists belonging to Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed and the presence of large cache of weapons and explosives with them indicates that their efforts to wreak major havoc and destruction have once again been thwarted.”
“Our security forces have once again displayed utmost bravery and professionalism. Thanks to their alertness, they have defeated a nefarious plot to target grassroots level democratic exercises in Jammu and Kashmir,” Modi mentioned.
