Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Tuesday (30 June) morning.
The slain terrorists were responsible for killing of one CRPF trooper and a child near the Padshahi Bagh bridge in Bijbehara area in Anantnag district on Friday, reports Hindustan Times.
The Army and the police had launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) on the basis of a specific information about the presence of terrorists. As the cordon was tightened the hiding terrorists fired at the security forces which triggered the encounter.
The forces are on the lookout for the third terrorist involved in the gunbattle in Waghama village of Bijbehara.
An INSAS rifle and pistol were recovered from the encounter site.
On Friday (26 June), the terrorists killed in today's gunfight had fired upon a road opening party of CRPF’s 90 Battalion near the Padshahi Bagh bridge in Bijbehara area. A CRPF personnel and a 5-year-old boy was injured in the attack. Both of them later succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
