With his ‘America first’ policy, President Donald Trump’s administration has been pushing tech companies to invest more in the home country. Apple Inc. has announced that it would spend $1 billion to build a second campus in Austin, Texas, which will employ as many as 15,000 people, reports The Hindu.

Earlier this year, Apple had announced that it would invest $30 billion in the United States, which will benefit from new tax reforms.

The Austin campus will be built on 133 acres and will employ workers in fields of engineering, R&D, operations and finance. Reportedly, it is not a move to shift manufacturing from China.

The city is already home to the second largest number of Apple employees outside its headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Further, new sites will be set up in Seattle, San Diego and Culver City, California, and which will employ over 1,000 people. In three years, it will expand to Pittsburgh, New York and Boulder, Colorado.

Amazon is also setting up a new campus in New York City and near Washington, D.C.
