Judgement Day: West Bengal, Tamil Nadu Slipping Away From BJP Shows Latest Trends; Leading In Assam, Puducherry

Assembly election counting today (2 May) began in crucial states of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala, and Union Territory of Puducherry.
The latest trends show that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trailing in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala while the BJP-led NDA is leading in Assam and Puducherry.
The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress has amassed a big lead in the West Bengal assembly polls even as the BJP emerges as the second-largest party, as per trends published by the Election Commission.
As per EC data available for 223 out of 292 seats, the TMC is leading on 149 while the BJP is leading on 70. The majority mark in the state is 148.
The MK Stalin-led DMK alliance in Tamil Nadu seems to be edging ahead in a closely fought contest in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections.
The party and its allies, including the Congress, are leading in at least 137 seats, while the ruling AIADMK is ahead in 95 seats, reports Indian Express.
BJP has stormed its way well beyond the majority mark as the saffron party is leading in 76 assembly seats against Congress’ 41 out of a total of 126 seats in Assam.
For the first time in 40 years, Kerala may break the cycle of voting out the incumbent party as initial trends indicate victory for Pinarayi Vijayan led LDF government.
The ruling LDF is leading in 89 seats and the opposition UDF is leading in 48 seats. On the other hand, BJP which contested 113 seats out of 140 strong Kerala Assembly is leading in three seats.
