Jyotiraditya Scindia Finally Vacates Lutyens Bungalow After Modi Government Rejects His Plea To Retain It

Senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia has vacated his official bungalow in Delhi, clearing all his dues with the estates department, reports Asian News International (ANI). This follows reports revealing that his request for retaining the bungalow was rejected by the central government.
For his part, Scindia had denied that any report suggesting he had asked to retain the bungalow was true.
After surrendering his allotted bungalow, Scindia tweeted, "On 23rd May, I humbly accepted the election mandate and started preparations to shift out of the government bungalow allotted to me. Never had any desire for any unauthorized retention. News claiming any such request is false and is a shocking attempt to spread false information."
Scindia was a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Guna constituency in Madhya Pradesh in the 16th Lok Sabha. He then lost the elections held for 17th Lok Sabha.
As per the rules, former MPs have to vacate their government residences within one month of the dissolution of the erstwhile Lok Sabha establishment. The previous Lok Sabha was dissolved by the President Ram Nath Kovind on 25 May 2019.
Meanwhile it should be noted that Scindia had served in the Lok Sabha as an MP from 2002-2019, and had been a resident at 27, Safdarjung Road bungalow for a long set of years.
