The sprint sensation Kambala jockey Srinivasa Gowda is all set to miss Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju's invite for a trial at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) saying that he is is not interested in it and will focus on Kambala, reports The New Indian Express.

This comes just a day after the sports minister extended invited to Gowda who made rounds on social media after he reportedly ran 145 metre in just 13.62 seconds. This led to various users comparing him with sprinting legend Usain Bolt.

The report quoted Gowda as saying that he was truly excited by the attention he was gaining for his Kambala feat and he was thankful to people for it.

He also added that he won’t take part in the SAI trials which is scheduled to be held on Monday (17 February) in Bengaluru. However, he will meet Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday, who had extended invitation to him.

Gowda also mentions that he intends to continue Kambala as it is a different sport altogether.

"In Kambala race, heels play an important role whereas it is toes in a track race. Not just jockeys, but even Buffaloes have a role to play in Kambala. In track race, this is not the case" said Gowda.

He says many successful sprinters had tried their luck in Kambala but they didn't succeed and tripped at the beginning of the race.
