In order to create awareness among Karnataka’s pre-university students about AYUSH, Minister of State (Union) Shripad Yesso Naik has announced that the topic will be included in the curriculum. The decision was announced while he was addressing a programme at St Aloysius High School in Mangaluru on Sunday, November 11.
AYUSH, which stands for Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy focuses on providing cheaper and non-invasive cures to patients.
Deccan Herald quoted him as saying, “Central Ministry of AYUSH has formulated and implemented several projects like the construction of AYUSH hospital in every district. The ministry has signed a memorandum of understanding with 15 countries towards research and cooperation in AYUSH. More than 13 universities have study chairs on AYUSH. In the coming days, the ministry will come up with Yoga parks in various districts.”
He further emphasised on the need for the doctors to learn Sanskrit in order to rediscover the lost healing methods that are originally in Sanskrit scriptures. He gave due credits to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking AYUSH to every nook and corner of the country and reviving ancient medicine in India.
