Karnataka Plans Connectivity Enhancement Between Birth Places Of Hanuman And Shri Ram

Karnataka is contemplating enhancing connectivity between the birthplace of Anjaneya or Hanuman in Anjanadri in Vijayanagara District with that of of Shri Ram in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.

Minister for Muzarai, Haj and Wakf Shashikala Jolle told the Karnataka Legislative council that the government is mulling air and rail connectivity proposals between the two places and that discussions have taken place at official levels for the same, as reported.

In response to a question by a council member N Ravi Kumar, Jolle said that several meetings have been held to promote religious tourism between Anjanadri and Ayodhya. “The Chief Minister is also interested in promotion of temple tourism,” she said.

”A masterplan is ready to improve infrastructure around the temples under the Daiva Sankalpa programmes and 25 temples have been selected,” she added.

Jolle, also explained, as reported, that the Religious Endowment department is acquiring around 13 acres of land near Anjanadri hill for creation of infrastructure facility that aids pilgrims and tourists.

The state had, in its recently announced budget, also had mentioned the formulation of a scheme for the ‘comprehensive development of the Anjanadri Hill‘. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had said that Rs 100 crore has been granted for provision of basic facilities and a ropeway for tourists.

A total of Rs 3,012 crore has been allocated in this budget for the protection of cultural, historical and natural resources. The state has also announced a subsisdy of Rs 5,000 per person to 30,000 pilgrims undertaking the Kashi yatra from Karnataka.
