Karnataka: SC Directs 10 Congress Rebel MLAs To Meet Assembly Speaker At 6 PM Today Over Resignation Rejection

Responding to the plea filed by 10 rebel Congress MLAs whose resignations were rejected, the Supreme Court has now directed all of them to meet the Karnataka Vidhan Soudha Speaker Ramesh Kumar in his office today (11 July) at 6 pm, reports India Today.
The bench heade by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi has asked Kumar to grant an audience to the MLAs and take a decision on the matter after listening to them; the Speaker will then have to communicate to the court tomorrow regarding the progress made at the meeting.
The rebel group is currently staying at a hotel in Mumbai, and is likely to return to Bengaluru today to comply with the Supreme Court’s directions. Another five MLAs from the Congress who had also submitted their resignations are also expected to move the apex court soon.
It is critical for the Congress that some sort of reconciliation with the rebel MLAs takes place, otherwise the current government of the JD (S) and Congress combine will fall due to the lack of a majority in the state assembly.
