Shri Kedarnath Temple (Himanshu Tiwari/Facebook)
The Kedarnath Char Dham shrine is set to be adorned with a 12-feet tall and 35-tonne statue of Adi Shankaracharya within a span of a month or so, reports Hindustan Times.
The said statue has been crafted by sculptors from Mysore as per the information shared by Chief Minister (CM) of Uttarakhand Tirath Singh Rawat who also added that the sculptors have done a formidable job and have completed the beautiful statue in a record time.
CM Rawat also said, "This is a moment of great honour for all of us as we welcome the life-size statue of Guru Adi Shankaracharya in our state."
Born in Kerala in the eighth century, Adi Shankaracharya was an Indian mystic and philosopher who consolidated the doctrines of Advaita Vedanta and made significant contributions towards unifying Hinduism by setting up four mathas across India. He is believed to have taken samadhi at Kedarnath.
State's Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaaz said that the installation of the statue in Kedarnath is a moment of great pride and that "it will further motivate us to adopt his teachings for a meaningful and better life."
