Kerala state health minister K. K. Shailaja
Touted as ‘Corona Slayer’ by a section of media, Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja is unlikely to figure in the new LDF cabinet.
Shailaja is likely to miss the berth after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, fresh from a thumping reelection win, decided not to continue with any ministers in his cabinet and induct only new faces. The CPM will have 12 ministers in the cabinet.
Malayalam Manorama reported that Veena George, R Bindu, P A Mohammed Riyas, V Sivankutty, K Radhakrishnan, P Rajeev, K N Balagopal, Saji Cherian, M V Govindan, V N Vasavan, and V Abdurahiman are likely to be included as CPM nominees in the Kerala Cabinet.
Former Lok Sabha member M B Rajesh is likely to elevated as Assembly Speaker.
Mohammed Riyas, who is the son-in-law of CM Vijayan, is likely to be inducted in to the cabinet. Riyaz was elected from Beypore assembly constituency in Kozhikode district.
The 2021 assembly election verdict as reaffirmed Vijayan’s position as the undisputed leader of the CPI(M). In the run up to the assembly elections, several senior CPM leaders including E P Jayarajan, A K Balan , Thomas Issac, and G Sudhakaran were denied party tickets.
The Communist Party Of India (CPI) announced that K Rajan, P Prasad, Chinchu Rani and GR Anil will be the party’s ministerial nominees in the coalition government. All of them are fresh faces with no previous ministerial experience
