Kerala DGP (Prisons) R Sreelekha
Director General of Police (DGP) Prisons and correctional services from Kerala, R Sreelekha issued a circular recently asking her subordinates to not disturb her at odd hours for 'petty issues' including escaped inmates reports The News Minute.
In a third such circular issued by Sreelekha, the DPG instructs her colleagues to refrain from calling her during odd hours for jail issues like inmate illness, death, escape and law and order situation.
She had issued her first circular about a year ago, wherein she had asked officials to contact her through their offices officers rather than calling her directly. However, when the calls kept coming, the violating officials were transferred to training centres.
She also instructed her co-workers and subordinates to call the jail chief or zonal Deputy inspector general of police (DIG) over problems related to correctional facilities.
Her circular though was not respected and people kept on disregarding her instructions.
R Sreelekha, a Chevening scholar is also the first female IPS officer from Kerala, who has served under various ranks in the state police.
