An FIR has been registered against 25 students of Perambra Silver College, Kozhikode for allegedly waving the Pakistani flag on the campus, reports Times Now News. The incident is said to have occurred amidst campaigning for college union elections.
The individuals who have been booked are thought to be members of the Muslim Students Front (MSF) and the Kerala Students Union (KSU), the latter being backed by the Congress party.
The complaint has been filed under sections 143, 147, 153 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and an investigation is currently ongoing.
The members of the student group MSF assert that there has been a misunderstanding in the matter as when their flag is held upside down, it appears to be the national flag of Pakistan.
On the other hand, members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have claimed a terror link to the issue, claiming that some elements were trying to cause disharmony in the state.
