Kerala: UAE Court Dismisses Cheque Bounce Case Against Bharat Dharma Jana Sena Chief Thushar Vellapally

Ajman Court in UAE today quashed criminal proceedings against Thushar Vellapally, chief of Bharat Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS), citing lack of evidence, reports ANI.
Vellapally was arrested in UAE last month in connection with 19-crore cheque default case. Though Vellapally secured bail the next day on 22 August, his passport was impounded and he was asked to stay back till the case is settled.
The complaint against Vellapally was filed by N Abdullah of Thrissur Kerala who had worked as a sub-contractor in the UAE for Vellapally. He complained that a cheque given by Vellapally almost a decade back, bounced when presented a few months ago.
After the hearings, the UAE court came to the conclusion that the case had no merit. Vellapally was given discharged and his passport was returned.
BDJS is the second largest constituent of NDA in Kerala. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Vellapally unsuccessfully contested against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad constituency.
