After the Kannada film industry lost a superstar in Ambareesh recently, it has possibly found someone to take the baton forward – Naveen Kumar Gowda, popularly known as Yash.

Yash had a modest upbringing, with his father working in the BMTC, making the actor one of the few people in the industry to make it big without being tainted by nepotism accusations.

It has been said that the Kannada film industry has struggled to produce cinematic talent which could reach movie screens beyond the state. Amidst all this comes the movie Kolar Gold Fields or KGF.

Released across 2,200 screens in India, the film set in the 70s is one of the most expensive movies made by the Kannada film industry. To cater to a wider audience, the movie has been released in four languages – Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi and will soon be dubbed in Chinese and Japanese as well, as reported by Mid Day.

KGF as of 24 December has grossed nearly Rs 60 crore and fans hope that this will be the first ever Kannada film to make it into the Rs 100 crore club. Fans are also hopeful that with other young talents like Rakshit Shetty, Rishabh Shetty and Pavan Kumar entering the industry, the lost glory of the Kannada film industry is all set to be revived.
