Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Ankit Sharma who was found dead in Northeast Delhi’s Chand Bagh on Wednesday morning (26 February) was killed while trying to rescue people who were trapped by a mob, reports ANI Editor Smita Prakash.
The officer was under training in the Intelligence Bureau which he had joined in 2017, as per a report by India Today.
According to another report, he was killed by a stone-pelting mob in Chand Bagh which saw intense violence. The report says, "his body was dumped in a drain, claimed his uncle". The officer was 26.
According to a report on NDTV the officer's father Ravinder Sharma also works with the Intelligence Bureau and he "has accused supporters of an Aam Aadmi Party leader of attacking Ankit and killing him."
The same report adds that as per officials he was beaten to death by a mob on the Chand Bagh bridge and his body was later thrown into a drain.
