Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has found himself embroiled in another controversy after he was asked why he still has rooms in the five-star hotel Taj West End; he has responded to this by saying that this was his personal lifestyle choice, reports The Times of India.
This statement drew heavy criticism from the BJP on the ground that even though he has a home in J P Nagar, Kumaraswamy has still insisted on having suites at the five star hotel since becoming CM.
Defending his decision in Raichur on 26 june, Kumaraswamy made it very clear he does not need to tender an explanation to his critics and blamed the media for “interfering in his personal issues.”
Also, he claimed that he had not billed expenses for the suites to the state exchequer.
“Have I presented any expenditure bill to the government for reimbursement?” “It is a personal issue. Why are there questions about my personal activities? I am not interested in getting a certificate from anyone. I will work according to my conscience,” Kumaraswamy stated.
BJP’s Karnataka unit further targeted Kumaraswamy over the issue by saying that he was claiming to be a ‘son of the soil’ while staying in five-star accommodation.
