After passage of the three Labour Code bills from Lok Sabha on Tuesday (22 September), the government will today table the bills on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, the Industrial Relations Code, and the Code on Social Security in the Rajya Sabha, reports Times of India.

The Labour Code bills which were passed in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday consolidate a total of 29 different existing labour laws under four labour codes. The government's push on achieving labour reforms via these bills has received support from Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Janata Dal (United) (JDU), Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the YSR Congress party.

With the Code on Wages having been passed by the Parliament last year, the passage of these three remaining bills will complete the Government's effort to reform and simplify the labour laws in the nation.

Union Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar said in the Lok Sabha that the bills will provide a healthy and safe working environment for 50 crore workers. He also shared that the bills had been tabled after incorporating as many as three-fourths of the recommendations of the parliamentary standing committee.
