Lahore: Pakistan Police Arrest Entire Staff Of Fast Food Restaurant After Being Denied Free Burgers

In a bizarre incident, a group of police officers in Pakistan arrested 19 staff members of a takeaway joint after they refused to give them free burgers, reports WION. The incident occurred at the famous takeaway eatery chain Johnny & Jugnu in the eastern city of Lahore.
The issue began after the eatery’s personnel reportedly declined a "request from a very high profile special guest."
The fast-food chain said in a statement on social media that two days prior to the incident, a few policemen had come to the eatery and demanded free burgers. Upon rejection of their request, they had threatened the manager of the outlet before leaving.
They again came the very next day making baseless accusations to further harass and pressurise the staff. On the day of the incident (11 June), the police came and took the entire staff into custody, emptying the outlet.
“This is not the first time something like this has happened with our kitchen teams at our restaurant, but we want to make sure this is the last," it added.
The restaurant further stated that those arrested were mainly young people with many of them attending universities.
The incident led to widespread condemnation by the public and consequently, nine police officers were suspended in the case.
Senior provincial police official Inam Ghani announced the suspensions on Twitter, saying: "No one is allowed to take the law into his own hands. Injustice will not be tolerated. All of them will be punished."
