A team of over a dozen people including cops was assembled on the bank of the Pench river in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara to rescue two stranded girls who had entered the waters to click a selfie.
As per a report in the Free Press Journal the girls had gone for a picnic at the Belkhedi village when they decided wanted to take a selfie while standing on a rock situated between the river.
The girls though were unable to return from the rock as the river's flow intensified leading to their friends calling the authorities for help.
Soon a team of rescuers arrived who subsequently managed to rescue the girls after about an hour. In the pre-rescue video the girls can be seen standing on the tiny rock as authorities immerse themselves waist deep in the fast flowing water to carry out the rescue.
After the video went viral on social media, many users demanded that heavy punishment be meted out to the girls to create a strong deterrence against such decisions.
