Huge cutouts of AIADMK stalwarts were erected in Chennai’s Maduravoyal for a Tamil Nadu minister’s family function, despite the Madras High Court order banning huge cutouts and banners, as reported by TNM.

Hoardings of MG Ramachandran, J Jayalalithaa, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam were placed in Maduravoyal, which shows scant regard and a lack of respect for the High Court’s orders.

The hoarding was allegedly put up by Tamil Nadu Rural Industries minister Benjamin for a family function which has created a storm in social media after being circulated. The Maduravoyal police, however, said that the cutouts were placed after obtaining the appropriate permissions and declined to comment further.

The AIADMK recently received a lot of public ire for setting up banners and hoardings in front of a bus stop on Avvai Shanmugam Salai, completely blocking it from public view, which means that this was not the first time the party has skirted the law.

An illegal AIADMK hoarding led to the death of 32-year-old K Raghupathy after he fell off his two-wheeler when he crashed into it, leading to the ban imposed by the Madras High Court after pressure from the public.
