Liquor stores which have been closed since the start of the lockdown will finally be allowed to open in Green Zone from 4 May. The liquor store owners have been instructed to maintain social distancing in the shops and not allow over five customer at a given time.
Various state governments have been calling for liquor shops to reopen by citing a precarious loss of excise revenue.
The relaxations in Green Zones also mean that domestic helps, drivers and cleaners will be allowed to go to work but rules of respective resident welfare associations will apply.
Today’s lockdown extension announcement means that the government has opted for a calibrated exit strategy and situation will almost return to normalcy in green zones.
