In a major win for video streaming consumers, Amazon and Google have decided to call truce on video streaming, allowing each others devices to stream the others content services.

Since the past two years, most consumers faced the challenge of choosing between Amazon’s Prime Video running only on the Fire Stick and seamless YouTube streaming on Chromecast.

Trouble between the two tech giants began brewing in 2015 after Google’s Chromecast was made unavailable on Amazon’s shopping platform. The search results instead showed other streaming devices along with Amazon’s Fire Stick, as reported by The Hindu.

“We’ve been trying to reach agreement with Amazon to give consumers access to each other’s products and services. But Amazon doesn’t carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, doesn’t make Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month stopped selling some of [Google-owned] Nest’s latest products. Given this lack of reciprocity, we are no longer supporting YouTube on Echo Show and FireTV,” a Google representative had said in relation to the feud in 2017.

However, consensus has now been reached between the two firms which will make it easier for the consumers to choose between the services.
