L&T Defence Hits Make-In-India Half Century; Delivers 50th Warship To Indian Coast Guard

Bolstering its credentials as a committed partner to strengthening India's defence forces, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Monday (15 April) commissioned its 50th defence vessel built under Warship License since receiving its first Ministry of Defence (MoD) contract in March 2010, APN News reported.
Contributing to the 'Make in India' and 'Design in India' defence development aspiration of the Government of India, L&T's Kattupalli Shipyard commissioned Indian Coast Guard's (ICG) Offshore Patrol Vessel ICGS Veera in the presence of Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The ship was built within a span of 11 months and also happens to be the 11th platform delivered by L&T during the financial year 2018-19, establishing the yard's proven capability to concurrently build multiple warships.
Also, L&T has in house designed and engineered all the 50 platforms delivered till date for Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy.
Recently, the state-owned Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) had also scored a major feat by becoming the first Indian shipyard to build and deliver 100 warships to the Indian Navy.
