Lying In The Supreme Court? Congress Used Fake Electoral Rolls To Mislead SC, Alleges Election Commission

The Election Commission of India (EC) accused the Congress party of using fake electoral rolls to mislead the Supreme Court, Economic Times has reported.
The incident happened during the hearing of a case filed by Congress leader Kamal Nath. He had sought a direction from the SC to the EC to weed out all duplicate names in the electoral rolls of Madhya Pradesh before upcoming assembly elections in the state.
The EC and Congress traded charges against each other in the Court over the veracity of documents produced in the court by the Congress party to support its claims of inaccurate electoral rolls in the state for the upcoming assembly elections.
“They are trying to prejudice the court with wrong documents and get relief,” Vikas Singh representing the Election Commission said. Further, he added that the EC would not share the electoral rolls which could be easily mined.
Kapil Sibal who represented the Congress denied the charges and said that the electoral rolls produced in court were available in the public domain and the party had submitted them only to verify their authenticity. The Supreme Court ordered both sides to file an affidavit supporting their version of the story.
