Poster of Indu Sarkar and director Madhur Bhandarkar
Director Madhur Bhandarkar has claimed that the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC), also known as the Censor Board has asked for 14 cuts in his movie Indu Sarkar.
The claim was made by Bhandarkar on Twitter, where he said:
Bhandarkar further said that he intended to go to the revising committee in order to roll back the 14 cuts demanded.
Indu Sarkar, which is based on the Emergency under the rule of former prime minister Indira Gandhi earlier ran into controversy when the Indian National Congress (INC) wrote to CBFC chief Pahalaj Nihalani asking for the film to be censored to prevent the Gandhi familiy from being shown in ‘bad light’
The film is set to release on 28 July.
