The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, will be joined by his cabinet colleagues as they watch The Kerala Story at the MPT open theatre in Bhopal this evening (16 May).

"Love Jihad is the undeclared agenda of domination over humanity. The film #THEKERALASTORY , is making the whole country aware of this conspiracy," Bhuppendra Singh, the Minister of Urban Development and Housing in the Madhya Pradesh government, said in a tweet announcing the presence of all cabinet colleagues at the open-air screening later today.

The Kerala Story, released in theatres on 5 May, has received a mixed response from various states depending on political ideology, with some imposing a ban on it while some others making it tax-free.

Madhya Pradesh was the first state to declare the film tax-free. "The film should be watched by all," Chouhan has said.

According to the Chief Minister, the film exposes the 'trap of love jihad' and the 'design of terrorism'.

Uttar Pradesh accorded the film tax-free status after Madhya Pradesh, followed by Uttarakhand and Haryana.

In contrast, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu pulled the plug on the screenings of the Sudipto Sen-directed film.

In Kerala, the high court refused a ban on the movie since it was "inspired by true events."

Even as top political leaders of Madhya Pradesh come together for a film screening this evening, a former Nagar Palika president of Naugaon town in Chhatarpur district recently sponsored a show of The Kerala Story for nearly 200 school girls.
