The Maharashtra Muslim Awami Committee (MMCA) is opposing the release of Hindi movie, ‘Ram Janmbhoomi’ reports the Indian Express. The Muslim Organisation has further urged the Censor Board to halt the clearance, claiming the film is produced to create hatred in the society.

Ram Janmbhoomi is written and produced by the Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board, Syed Waseen Rizvi, who supports building a Ram Temple in Ayodhya and says there was never a mosque at the temple site as a ‘masjid’ cannot come upon a disputed site.

The movie, whose trailer was recently released by Rizvi, speaks about the events that happened during the Ram Temple movement since October 30, 1990. The film is set for a December-end release.

The MMCA has a strong objection against the release of the trailer, arguing the movie concerns a subject which is still under Judicial consideration. Iliyas Kirmani, president, MMCA claims the movie is made with the intentions of creating hate in society.

“We have given a memorandum to the Censor Board. The film contains controversial issues of Islam like Halala and triple talaq, besides the demolition of (Babri) masjid (in Ayodhya in 1992),” he told on Friday (23 November).

Kirmani adds, “We oppose this as we have seen the trailer and foresee possibilities of unrest in the society if the film is released. We demand that the release of the film be cancelled as it may lead to breach of peace and create law and order problem in the country.”

Kirmani says the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) should halt the movie’s release in the interest of the nation and to preserve peace and harmony while adding a copy of memorandum has been sent to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis. On the other hand, Rizvi, a few days ago, claims the movie has not targeted any particular community.
