Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is said to have told the Shiv Sena that the latter must take back its support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and get its member Arvind Sawant to give up the post of Union Minister in Modi government to work out a political alternative for government formation in Maharashtra, reports Indian Express.

"Nothing like it if the BJP gives Shiv Sena Chief Minister’s post. But if the BJP is refusing, an alternative can be given. But the Sena should declare it is no longer associated with the BJP and NDA. Alternative can be provided after that" said Nawab Malik, senior leader and spokesperson of the NCP, on Tuesday (5 November).

“Sawant should walk out of the government. Only then NCP will open its cards,” the sources in the NCP were quoted as saying in the report.

The stalemate between the Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena and Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis led BJP in the State post outcome of just concluded elections has shown no signs of wearing down as Shiv Sena is demanding chief ministerial post.
