Maharashtra: One Of The Accused In Palghar Lynching Case Tests Positive For Coronavirus

One of the accused in the lynching of two Sadhus and their driver in Maharashtra’s Palghar has tested positive for the Coronavirus, reports Hindustan Times.
The accused was reportedly locked up at Wada police station and tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday (1 May) night. He is believed to have contracted the infection in lock-up where nearly 20 other accused in the case were reportedly lodged with him in a single cell.
According to the report, the accused was first admitted to an isolation ward of Palghar rural hospital. He is now being shifted to a prisoner ward at JJ Hospital.
The accused is one of the over 100 persons arrested by Maharashtra Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the Palghar lynching case.
Earlier on 16 April, two Sadhus - 70-year-old Kalpavriksha Giri Maharaj and 35-year-old Sushil Giri Maharaj of the Juna Akhara - along with their driver Nilesh Telgade were lynched to death by a huge mob of villagers near Gaddchinchale village in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. The trio was attacked on the suspicion of being child-lifters.
