Mamata Demands Some ‘Courtesy,' Requests PM Modi To Stop Political Vendetta After Centre Recalls Bengal Chief Secretary

The face-off between the Centre and Mamata Banerjee led West Bengal government has further intensified, with Chief Minister (CM) Banerjee alleging that the Centre has humiliated her.
A day after skipping the cyclone review meeting chaired by the Prime Minister (PM), the West Bengal CM said that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is humiliating her by circulating one-sided information.
Demanding some ‘courtesy’ from the central government, CM Mamata Banerjee requested the PM to withdraw the order to recall the Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay.
“I felt bad. They humiliated me by running the one-sided information circulated by the PMO. When I was working, they were doing this. For the sake of people, I am ready to touch your feet. Stop this political vendetta,” Mamata Banerjee said as per ANI.
“I request the PM to withdraw this order on Chief Secretary (being attached to DoPT) and let us work. There should be some courtesy. The Centre is not letting the State work. Bengal is my priority and I'll never put it in danger. I will remain a security guard for the people here,” she added.
The tussle between the Modi and the Mamata governments intensified on Friday (28 May) when the Bengal CM arrived late to the cyclone review meeting chaired by PM by 30 minutes despite being in the same premises.
The West Bengal CM entered the review meeting, handed over papers related to the cyclone impact to the PM and left the meeting hall along with the state Chief Secretary.
After this incident, the Union government on Friday (28 May) evening issued orders to recall Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay with immediate effect and asked him to report to the Department of Personnel and Training in the North Block, New Delhi, by 10.00 AM on 31 May.
