Amid the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, the helicopter carrying BJP president Amit Shah was denied permission to refuel at three different sites in West Bengal, according to Rajya Sabha MP and noted journalist Swapan Dasgupta.
The instance has been condemned widely on social media as another abuse of authority by the Trinamool government of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Earlier, authorities in the state had also denied permission to land for the helicopter of Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who was travelling to address a campaign rally.
On previous ocassions, the Mamata led government had denied similar landing permission for senior BJP leaders like Amit Shah and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Yogi Adityanath was also denied such a permission to land his chopper in Bengal’s Purulia, following which he decided to land in Jharkhand and travel to the venue by road. He was also denied permission to land in Balurghat and subsequently addressed the crowd via video conferencing.
Along parallel lines, former Jharkhand CM and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arjun Munda was also denied permission by the incumbent administration to hold a public rally in Bishnupur in Bankura district.
