Initial investigations revealed that Mohammed Shariq, the accused in the Mangaluru blast, had lived and travelled across Tamil Nadu.

Following this, K Annamalai, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that after the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) had come to power in the state, the state Intelligence Department had gone into hibernation and that the state had become a haven for terrorists.

During his stay in Coimbatore, Shariq had procured a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card using the Aadhar card of another person and assumed a fake identity.

Investigations are on to trace those who helped him in Tamil Nadu.

The similarity between the Coimbatore and the Mangaluru blasts, has made the police suspect a link between Shariq and those arrested after the Coimbatore blast.
