Microsoft, Tech Avant-Garde (TAG), Atria Convergence Technologies (ACT) have planned to provide free of cost high-speed broadband connection to all Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) schools in the city, Bangalore Mirror has reported. This move is aimed at bridging the gap between private and public schools in Bengaluru.

“We are aiming to provide internet at two stages. One is through EDUSAT, and the other is through high-speed broadband taken from cables. These cables will ensure continuous connectivity. The speed of the broadband will be 150 Mbps,’’ Ali Sait from TAG told Bangalore Mirror.

BBMP has upped its efforts to further digital education in the public schools. “Now, Doordarshan has signed an MOU with the Roshni Social schooling team to broadcast DD Roshni - an educational channel for students studying from the first standard to the second PUC,” Special Commissioner for Education (BBMP) Ravindra told Bangalore Mirror.

The medium of instruction on DD Roshni will be in English, and the content has been curated on the advice from experts in the US and UK. A trial had been conducted on 14 November, and the response has been good. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will be inaugurating the service.
