Middle Schools Re-Open In Kashmir Valley Following Considerable Improvement In Primary School Attendance

After primary schools started to function in the Kashmir Valley from Monday (19 August), Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) administration have now allowed classes at middle schools in the Valley from to resume from today (21 August), reports Asian News International (ANI).
On Monday, the overall attendance of students in the Valley schools was very low, which then improved considerably on Tuesday, both for students and teachers. It is based on this improvement and encouraging feedback received from parents that the Administration has decided to open the middle schools..
Principal Secretary to the J&K Government, Rohit Kansal also said that firstly the middle schools will be opened in the areas where primary schools have already started to function. Other regions would follow thereafter.
Kansal also said that of all 197 police stations in Jammu and Kashmir, 136 have no day time restrictions any more, while in Kashmir Valley, day time restrictions have been done away with in 50 out of 111 police stations.
He also revealed that 73,000 out of the total 96,000 landline phones in the valley have been made functional, while the government offices have been recording more than normal attendance, signalling at normalcy being restored slowly in the region.
The administration has been following a cautious step-by-step approach to restore normalcy in the valley without any law and order disruptions.
