Ministry Of Defence Gives Nod To Hire 400 Military Doctors Who Retired Between 2017 And 2021

In a boost for ongoing national efforts to cope against the surging cases of COVID-19 in different parts of the country, the Ministry of Defence has given the nod for hiring 400 retired medical doctors, reports Times of India.
The Ministry has formally authorised the Director-General of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) to hire 400 ex-Army Medical Corps and Short-Service Commission medical officers who retired from the service or were released from it between 2017 and 2021.
The personnel is expected to be hired by the Ministry on a contractual basis for a maximum period of 11 months. For this, the Ministry will pay a fixed monthly lump sum amount as remuneration, which will be calculated by deducting the basic pension from the salary drawn at the time of their retirement.
The measure by the ministry comes at a time when it is actively setting up field hospitals and is deploying its medical officers to help augment the national capacity to provide treatment to those affected.
