Miracle On The St John’s: Boeing 737 Skids Into River While Landing In Florida, All Alive And Accounted For

A Boeing 737 at about 9.40 pm local time on Friday (3 May) skid into the St John’s river near Jacksonville, Florida while landing with 135 people on board, Times of India reported.
The flight while arriving from Guantanamo Bay Naval Station skid off the end of the runway into the shallow water, preventing it from submerging.
The rescue teams swung into action and after evacuating all individuals on board, tried to contain the seepage of jet fuel into the river. Zero casualties were confirmed by the mayor of Jacksonville.
The plane reportedly belonged to the US Department of Defence. The incident is said to have resulted in two minor injuries while 21 were taken to nearby hospital for checkups.
This incident has led may to draw parallels with the “Miracle on the Hudson” in January 2009 when Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger water landed an Airbus A320 in the Hudson river in New York.
Captain Sully was forced to make this decision after he lost both the engine during the climb from LaGuardia Airport after running into a flock of Geese.
The Captain then famously pulled off a highly risky water landing in the frigid cold waters of the Hudson without a single loss of life.
