Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram who was purportedly untracable since Tuesday (20 August) evening after the Delhi High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea in the INX Media scam, today (21 August) surfaced at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi to address the media.
In the press conference Chidambaram claimed that neither he nor his family members have been accused of any wrongdoing in the INX Media case. He added that no chargesheet has been filed by either the ED or the CBI before any court in this regard, reported ANI.
While addressing claims of him going missing, Chidambaram claimed that he was aghast over the allegations of hiding from the law, and claimed that he was actually seeking its protection. He added that he respects the law "even if it is applied with an unequal hand by the probe agencies".
Chidambaram proceeded to leave the headquarters after finishing the press conference and has arrived at his residence which was visited by a CBI team yesterday.
