Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train: 39 Per Cent Land Acquisition Complete For High-Speed Rail Project

The National High-Speed Rail Corridor Limited (NHSRCL) has acquired 537 hectares (39 per cent) of the 1,387 hectares land needed in Maharashtra and Gujarat from the ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, a senior NHSRCL official said, Rail Analysis India reports.
The national high-speed rail implementing agency has acquired 471 of 940 hectares of landed needed in Gujarat, and 66 hectares of land needed in Maharashtra. The 508-km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project would be the first high-speed rail corridor in India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japan PM Shinzo Abe had laid the foundation stone for the Rs 1.08 lakh crore project on 14 September 2017. According to the MoU signed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Union Railway Ministry, Japan would be partially funding the project.
The NHSRCL has already floated tenders to construct various tunnels and stations, the official added. Earlier, it was reported that four stations on the high-speed rail corridor would be constructed according to a unique theme of the city they are located in.
