Mumbai Metro To Get Three New Routes: MMRDA Clears Rs 17,347 Crore To Develop Line 10, 11, 12

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority’s (MMRDA) has cleared funds worth Rs 17,347 crore for three new metro lines. Palghar district also comes under MMRDA’s jurisdiction as decided in the board meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, reported by Mumbai Mirror.
Line 10 connects Ghodbunder Road in Thane to Shivaji Chowk in Mira road. The line covers four stations in 11.2 kilometres and will be running on elevated stations. This line is expected to cost Rs 4,476 crore.
Line 11 will run between Wadala and CSMT. In 11.4 kilometres It will cover ten stations; two elevated and eight underground. And it will cost Rs 8,739 crores.
Line 12 to connect Kalyan, Dombivali and Taloja which will cover 20.75 kilometres on an elevated corridor. The 17 station line is expected to cost Rs 4,132 crore. Line 12 is an extesion of line 5 which connects Kalyan, Bhiwandi and Thane.
A new Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd will be set up for maintenance of Metro rails. Palghar taluk, parts of Vasai taluk in Palghar district, Pen, Panvel, Khalapur and Alibaug talukas of Raigad district were brought under the MMRDA’s jurisdiction. Board approved MMRDA as the planning authority for Mumbai University’s Kalina campus.
Virar to Alibaug multimodal corridor was approved by the board, which includes 51 flyovers, 41 bridges and 39 vehicle underpasses, four passenger underpasses and nine interchanges. The project is estimated to cost Rs 39,841 crore.
