Due to suffocation caused because of the fire at Sadhana House in Worli, an 85-year-old woman lost her life in Mumbai on Sunday (30 December). Additionally, 16 firefighters have been suffering from suffocation due to this.
The fire was reported around 4:45 pm and had been spotted next to BDD Chawl, behind Mahindra Tower. The Mumbai Fire Department has declared the incident a Level IV disaster. 14 fire engines have been assigned to put out the flames, The Indian Express reported.
Vishal Vishvarsao, Swati Satpute, two firefighters who have been injured, have been taken to KEM Hospital. More than 12 firefighters who complained of suffocation have been taken to Poddar Hospital. Their medical condition is stable.
On Saturday morning, Kamala Mills compound also caught fire, making the Sadhana House incident the second in the same day.
Just about two days ago, another fire broke out in Chembur’s Tilak Nagar area, where five people lost their lives and many were injured.
