The Sham Sundar Shewa Mandli Temple was attacked by an unruly mob in Pakistan’s Sindh and Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered an investigation into the matter.

“The Sindh government must take swift and decisive action against the perpetrators of the attack. This is against the teachings of the Quran,” said PM Khan as reported by Times of India.

The temple is in a small town of Kumb in Khaipur district, surrounded by 50-70 houses in a Hindu neighbourhood. According to the members of the Hindu community, the attackers had burnt their idols and scriptures.

After the attack, members of the Hindu and Sikh community from different parts of the province had gathered at Kumb to protest the attack but ended it on 5 February (Tuesday) after the police intervened and ensured them of an independent investigation concerning the incidence.

Rajesh Kumar Hardasani, the adviser of the Pakistan Hindu Council has stated that the community is in shock after the incident. He demanded a special task force to protect Hindu temples across the Islamic republic.
