The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has recovered 1,818 kg of drugs worth more than Rs 1,000 crore from a house in Greater Noida in what is said to be the biggest ever narcotics seizure in the country, reports Hindustan Times.

The NCB arrested two Nigerian and one South African nationals from the house belonging to an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, which was used as a manufacturing unit.

The seizure apart from being the largest narcotics capture in the nation also marks the biggest seizure of pseudoephedrine drug in the world in the past three years, according to the zonal director of NCB, Madhav Singh.

The NCB had received a tip-off after the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel had intercepted a 31-year-old woman passenger, Nomsa Lutalo, from South Africa, at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport.

“On checking her bags, they found 24.7 kg pseudoephedrine from her bags. On questioning, the woman said she had been handed the consignment in Greater Noida by two people from Nigeria. She said she was asked to carry the same to Johannesburg and was promised good money in exchange,” Singh said.
