Nepalese Prime Minister (PM) KP) Sharma Oli's Vijaya Dashmi greeting card featured the old official map of Nepal which had no show of Indian territories which Oli had recently claimed to be Nepal's, sparking controversy in the Himalayan nation, reports Indian Express.

The said greeting card featured the old map, a photo of PM Oli and the national emblem of Nepal.

The greeting card evoked backlash from the Nepalese opposition which criticised PM Oli of backtracking on the issue and undermining the national consensus on the territorial issue. However, PM Oli's press advisor Surya Thapa tried to push the case that the said map on the greeting card was the new one and that the new areas were visible on it because of small size.

The development comes just days after PM Oli had held a meeting with Indian intelligence agency Research & Analysis Wing's chief Samant Kumar Goel at his residence. Further, days later, Indian Army's Chief General MM Naravane is also scheduled to visit Nepal.

It should be noted that the controversy over the use of the old map on the greeting card comes merely six weeks after PM Oli had ordered the withdrawal of school textbooks which included the new map.
