With online entertainment racing ahead and different video-on-demand service providers competing to capture Indian user base, Netflix is testing its weekly plans for its select uses in India, reports The Indian Express.

While Hotstar and Amazon Prime have priced their premium subscriptions at Rs 999 per year, Netflix has been the costlier one among its rivals with Rs 500 a month for a basic and Rs 800 a month for a premium monthly subscription.

The video streaming service, targeting the middle class, is coming up with alluring plans like Rs 65 per week and Rs 250 per month. In the mean time, the mobile-only plans do not offer access to the High Definition (HD) or 4K and only includes Standard Definition (SD).

In addition to the Rs 65 per week plan, other plans that Netflix is reportedly testing in India include Rs 125 basic plan for SD only, Rs 165 standard plan (HD) for two devices, and Rs 200 ultra plan (4K) for four devices.

Such weekly plans are likely to benefit the people who are interested in watching specific shows or movies online, thus providing an option of finishing off their favourite shows and unsubscribe thereafter to avoid paying for an entire month.
