Brand New Mumbai – Delhi Expressway Planned, Road Laying To Touch 40 Km Per Day, Says Nitin Gadkari

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) says that the government aims to build 40 km of roads per day by the end of March 2019, reports CNBC.
Gadkari said the government has constructed 28,531 km of roads and awarded contracts for laying of 51,073 km in the past four years.
Recently, data released by MoRTH indicated that the Narendra Modi government had built 73 per cent more highways in its first four years in office as compared to the last four years of the previous UPA government.
The present rate of highway construction touched 26.9 km, and the government aims to now push it to 40 km. The implementation of the construction projects is done through the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) route.
Works of the Delhi-Eastern bypass has also been completed. The first part of the Delhi-Meerut express highway, a 14-lane road, has been finished, and the entire project is reported to be completed by March 2019. Gadkari also said that the government would build a new expressway from Delhi to Mumbai.
